Welcome to Gateway Island, the gateway to Seafoam. Island One is the first island in the Republic of Seafoam archipelago. Located at the southwest of the U-shaped island chain, Island One is the gateway to the Seafoam experience. Featuring sparse grasslands, a small village surrounded by forests, and the only civilian international airport in the archipelago, Island One mostly caters to the incoming traffic of Seafoam. The airport and main harbor both lead to Gateway City.

Locations In Town

Gateway City
The official welcome center for Seafoam. Cruises from the Kanto region arrive at the harbor, and international flights land at Gateway International Airport. Given its status as a welcome center, and the thriving, tourist-driven economy at Seafoam, a large amount of the businesses in Gateway City are aimed at tourists looking to have fun in the sun. Centered in the northwest section of the island, Gateway City contains some shopping malls, civilian and military welcome centers, and is the place to go for visitors wishing to get a small sampling of Seafoam's history and culture.

Image Gateway Gym
Often the first stop for trainers arriving in the Republic of Seafoam, it is in the Gateway City Gym where prospective trainers will learn that the Seafoam League is unlike any other. The Gym Leader here is Angel, a sharp-witted Asiatic man who favors agile Pokémon and quick, variable attacks. Victorious trainers will receive the Speed Badge.

Locations Around Town

Gateway Grasslands
A typical spit of green land that dominates the majority of the island's land. Home to many of Island One's wild Pokémon.

Intercoastal Highway
One of the common methods to travel from island to island in the Republic of Seafoam is to use the Intercoastal Highway, a United States-style interstate system that connects all eight islands. It is not merely limited to those with automobile transportation; the entire length of the highway also has adjoining roads built for foot and bicycle traffic.
