Karu [Female Shiny Umbreon] — Headstrong! I take on anyone!
Karu is Katy's pride, joy, the Pokémon she started with and ultimately the Pokémon that fueled her want to study alternate coloration — and the biology involved with it. Karu is a brat and extremely stubborn. She likes to butt heads with almost anyone, and doesn't care for Jakkaru, Katy's student, at all. Katy thinks it might have something to do with the fact their names are so similar. Karu refuses to stay in her Poké Ball.

Miseri is a quiet, intelligent Espeon. Jakkaru made friends with her when she was just and Eevee, and her and Karu became fast friends. Miseri is perhaps the only Pokémon that can keep Karu in check when she's acting up. Miseri enjoys her solitude, sometimes seeking it out when there are too many people or Pokémon around.

Kat [Female Skitty] — Listen to the music and feel that beat!
Kat is a bright, happy, creative Skitty. Katy does mind keeping her away from sweet foods, because Kat can get a little off the wall sometimes. Generally she's the life of the group, making everything an adventure. She often steals Katy's PokéNav, because it has a music application, and Katy often finds her tangled up in the headphones for it, trying to listen to the music.

Lex [Male Luxio] — Hey, I just met you and this is crazy...
A young rambunctious little ball of fur, Lex is great friends with Karu, Katto and Miseri. He adamantly refuses to evolve, something Katy doesn't mind in the least. She catured him when she was traveling to the laboratory in Sinnoh. He kind of just.. tackled her and made up his mind that he was going to come along with her.

Shewolf [Female Absol] — I'm just a she in wolf's clothing.
Katy captured the Absol on her travels through Hoenn. A harbinger of disaster like the rest of her race, Shewolf foretold a huge flood in the Route 120 area. Spotting the canine Pokémon and telling residents in the area, Katy thanked the creature. Shewolf challenged Katy to a fight and the result was her coming along with Katy. Shewolf is rather laid back and generally chill.

Bri [Female Shiny Lopunny] — Love & joy, to the color of dreams.
Bri is very fond of her friends and is perhaps the most well-mannered Lopunny every born. Jakkaru caught her in Eterna Forest after spending long months befriending her as a Buneary. Bri likes sweet foods and is quite talented at breaking up tension between her teammates, being somewhat of a mediator.

Manda [Female Pikachu] — Lord! What fool these mortals be!
Manda adamantly refuses to evolve into a Raichu. Katy caught her in Viridian Forest one day and didn't know quite the bundle of energy that Manda would eventually become. Manda is just as much of the life of the group as Kat is and together the duo glue the group together like the strongest stuff imaginable. Manda likes to sing and can often be heard doing so. She likes spicy foods.

When one first runs into Katy, they can start to suspect one thing from her appearance... obsession. The girl oozes her love of alternate colored Pokémon, going so far as to have a coat styled off of her Umbreon. The fabric is black, the buttons gold, and the trim and details are light blue. She also wears matching gloves and a matching hat, though its symbol is purple.

She wears jean capri pants, which are torn and shredded at the hem from too much traveling. Her boots are lavender and are topped with corded ties and a warm woolen fluff. Her scarf matches her boots and has light blue stripes on the end of it. She stands around five feet, six inches tall, with shoulder length brunette hair and dark brown-black eyes.

Katy is a bull-headed, stubborn, bitch. When she wants to be. Other than that, she's generally a nice person, even if she is highly opinionated. She can be extremely cheerful, borderline annoying, when she's happy. She greatly values her friends and can get slightly depressed when they're not around. Other than that, she is generally optimistic. She likes meeting new people and hanging out with people that enjoy the same things as her.

She doesn't like prejudice in any shape or form and will go out of her way to make it known if she sees someone around her being as such. When times call for it, she can apply harsh logic, often coming off as rude when she does so. She hates being in a bad mood and will often sleep bad moods off. Sometimes she can be outright vicious if she doesn't like the conversation, but she regrets being so in the end. (...Usually.)

Still quite young at heart, Trinn is Katy's youngest sibling. He loves his Squirtle quite a lot, and he got the small critter from Katy, who, in turn, got it from Professor Oak. Trinnent dreams of becoming a League Champion.

Born on the edge Goldenrod City, Katy would spend the early years of her life meandering in the suburbs of the metropolis. Her family would later move to Ecruteak.

In Ecruteak, Katy found quite the fascination with the legends and myths of the world, delving into as many books and reports as she could on the matter. As her knowledge grew, so did she. It was around her eighth birthday, however, that the first knowledge came to her of alternate colored Pokémon. The reports of the red Gyarados at the Lake of Rage was on every channel. It was the first sighting of such a thing, though there had always been rumors of different colors in Pokémon. Katy was interested in them, but it wasn't until a year later that she became fascinated in them.

When she was nine, she met Karu in the woods one night. The little Eevee has gotten itself stuck in an Ariados web and had been mewling in frustration. Katy cut the small thing free and gathered it up to take it home. It was at home, when she was washing the Eevee that she discovered the creature had silver hair. Here her fascination with coloration began. With this one Eevee, Katy became enthralled in them, digging up every scrap of information on alternate coloration that she could, fueled by befriending the Eevee that became her starter.

Amazed by the possibilities, Katy threw herself into studies, awaiting the day she would turn fifteen, though for a different reason than the norm. It was at the age of fourteen that her dad, Tym, left behind his family. Her dad would end up disappearing a few years later, after losing his family in divorce. No one has heard from him since.

Then, she traveled south the day she turned fifteen, back to Goldenrod, bidding her family farewell, and boarded the Magnet Train. From Saffron at the Train Station, she traveled to Celadon. There she enrolled in the pre-studies program at the Celadon University, the prestigious academy of Kanto. From that enrollment until she was eighteen she would study Pokémon and alternate coloration with Karu by her side.

She would become the one that isolated the gene that determined the coloration of Pokémon, and her research would begin to help decoding the workings of this gene. Her and other Researches would determine that it was extremely recessive and that it came in two strains. One was minor, causing slight abnormalities in coloration and could vary from Pokémon to Pokémon. The other strain was major, causing full color abnormalities that could appear multiple times throughout a breed.

From then on she began to travel with Karu, whom had now evolved, working on her research abroad. On her journey through out Kanto she would meet Miseri and Manda on her way to visit Professor Oak. She had never met the esteemed Professor, but had always meant to pay him a visit to trade information. There Professor Oak would give her an egg, from Bridgette, the computer technician that had contributed to the PC system. Bridgette had apparently been handing out the eggs, but Professor Oak had failed in getting it to hatch due to the nature of eggs needing traveling Trainers. Katy ended up putting it in the PC, however, not knowing if she was up to taking care of it.

On her way back from the Laboratory in Pallet she would meet Jakkaru. Taking interest in the young girl, they would eventually travel to Lavender Town together on a joy filled journey. (Though Karu was furious at the fact.) They would part ways, but not before Katy gifted the budding Trainer with a PokéGear, a camera, and the egg from Bridgette, figuring that the young Trainer would pay more attention to the egg than a hair-brained Researcher like herself.

Katy would continue her journey, meeting with Jakkaru and her friends along the way sometimes for catch-up visits. In Hoenn she would capture Kat and Lauren, while in Sinnoh she would capture Bri and Jay. Sinnoh is also the only region that she decided to take the Gym Challenge for, though she never attempted the League there after winning her eighth Badge. She lost interest in doing the Challenge and really got all eight only because she wanted the full set by the the fourth Gym she reached. She continues her research tirelessly, not only studying alternate colored Pokémon, but capturing some, having around twenty plus to this day.

She stifled a sigh and stretched her arms above her person. The sand of the beach crunched under her feet. It had been a long trek through the wilds and the mountains. Vielstone was much too far from Sandgem for her liking, and Sunyshore, where she had landed in Sinnoh originally, was even further yet. For one that didn't keep a flier handy, all this walking got to be quite the pain.

It was a complaint in jest, of course, and she would never go so far as to voice it seriously. She loved field work. In fact, it was perhaps her favorite thing about what she had chosen to do in her life. The study of alternate coloration wasn't something one could study completely in a laboratory. On the other hand, it wasn't something one could hope to study completely out of one either.

Katy clutched the Poké Ball containing Cocoa, what she had come to call her colored Zubat, with eagerness. She was convinced that this Zubat carried a strong strain of the major gene involved in coloration. And if that was so, it would be vital to her research that she study the DNA of this creature. Sandgem passed by as she made her way for the largest building. Hopefully it wouldn't inconvenience Professor Rowan too much to let her borrow some of his equipment. She couldn't wait to return to Celadon to do this. It had to be now. Whether it ended in disappointment or success, her curiosity was nagging away at her nerves.

She had to know.
