Squirtle [Male]: Noah first received Squirtle as an egg from James when he was six. He is very jolly, and tends to just go with the flow. The Tiny Turtle Pokémon is a skilled fighter, but his trainer usually keeps him out of fights. The bond between Squirtle and his trainer is strong, and Noah considers him to be his best friend.

Poliwrath [Male]: When Noah was thirteen, Poliwrath saved him from drowning at sea, and has since then joined the team. He is considered to be the powerhouse of the team, and he is often sent out first to fight. The Tadpole Pokémon is very rash, yet protective of his trainer. Noah views Poliwrath as a protector of some sorts due to their experience together.

Pikachu [Female]: Pikachu was the partner of Jenny before she was given away to Noah before he left on his journey when he was sixteen. She is very eager to be apart of his team to travel the world. The Mouse Pokémon has skills in battling, and is very excited to show off her skills. Noah is glad to have her along for his journey.

Tympole [Male] Tympole was captured in Pinwheel Forest. He is very timid and nervous, which is probably a direct result of fighting against Pikachu in the wild. Still, Noah has high hopes for the Tadpole Pokémon, and believes that eventually he be a great addition to the team.

Noah stands at five feet six inches tall and weighs one hundred and thirty pounds. His skin is tanned, and his eyes are a dark green. His hair, which he is quite fond of, is a dark blonde, curly, and short. He carries his stuff around in a backpack that is always with him. He also wears shades at all times, whether it is sunny outside or if he's inside.
Noah usually wears clothing that makes him standout from a crowd. He wears a green and blue shirt with black flowers on it as well as khakis. For shoes, he wears a pair of sandals. Around his neck is a necklace with a Sharpedo tooth. It was given to him by James, who said that the tooth came from a Sharpedo he fished and later battled.
Noah is very calm, and tends to go with the flow. He is very friendly, and loves meeting new people. He tends to let his Pokémon solve their own problems, thinking they're smart enough to do so. He also cares deeply for his team, and hates to see them harmed too badly. He is most comfortable in water, and his favorite thing to do is to swim.
Noah is very out-going, and is quick in making new friends. He is very patient and tends to let things take its course. He tends to take a longer path in hopes of experiencing new things. He is, however, very arrogant and vain. Once he thinks he's good at something, he'll eventually think he's the best. Finally, He is quick to take sides as well as change sides.
Noah was born in Vermillion City to James and Jenny Marshall, two trainers who sailed on their personal sailboat, the Cobolt. Vermillion was one of their regular docking locations so the couple decided that they would stay there until their son was ready to travel at sea. After teaching him how to walk, they taught him how to swim, and shortly after turning five, he was deemed worthy enough to sail on the Cobalt.
Although it was a grand journey to be at sea, Noah's social skills suffered from a lack of interaction. To solve this problem, his father decided to get him a companion in form of a Pokémon. He was around seven when his father brought a Pokémon Egg aboard the Cobalt. The egg would hatch into Squirtle, who would become the young trainer's closest friend. Shortly after turning 10, he would officially capture the Tiny Turtle Pokémon as his first Pokémon.
For years, the Cobalt would dock at ports across different regions, allowing Noah to see the world for himself. This would develop a wanderlust in the young man, who dreamed of traveling further inland to see what else the world had to offer. Yet, he decided to stay with his parents and the Cobalt until he could decide on why he would travel asides from seeing the world.
Around the time Noah was 13, his life took a turn for disaster when the Cobalt was caught in a powerful storm. Noah was on deck by the time it hit, and unable to get below, was swept out into sea. Over the years, his swimming skill had developed, but it was not enough to save the young man. In this moment, the trainer thought that he would drown.
However, Noah was saved by an unlikely hero. A Poliwrath, strangely enough swimming at sea, came upon the teenager and returned him to the Cobalt safe and sound. The Tadpole Pokémon remained on board the ship until it safely made it out of the storm and onto calm waters. Afterwards, Poliwrath decided to remain with the Marshal family, acting as its guardian on the sea. Eventually, after turning 14, he would catch the Pokémon, adding him to his team.
Poliwrath's heroics ended up inspiring Noah to become a Water-type master. Telling his parents this shortly after turning 16, his mother supported him fully and gave him her Pikachu so that her Pokémon can see the world again. His father was not so certain on it, deeming the outside world too dangerous for someone so young. However, after giving his son brief lessons on how to defend himself, he gave his support in form of his Sharpedo tooth necklace.
With the support of both of his parents, Noah was now ready to begin his journey. The Cobalt docked at Castelia City where it dropped off the young trainer along with his Pokémon. Now, he seeks to do whatever it takes for the world to see him as one of the greatest Water-type trainers around.

Noah kept waving, even though he was certain his parents couldn't see him anymore. On his shoulder was Pikachu, new to the team. To his sides were his oldest friends, Squirtle and Poliwrath. He wasn't going to give up this opportunity. He was going to make a name for himself, starting here in Unova. He'll rise up to become Champion of Water Pokémon. Although he was certain that there was already a champion in Hoenn who uses Water Pokémon, maybe one day he would fight this Champion. Slowly, he began walking into the city, his Pokémon following suit.
