Luffin [Female Jumpluff] — Lift my heart to the soft skies with your soft kisses!
Cobi has had Luffin since she was a Hoppip. Cobi's mother has a large garden in the back of their house and also has a handful of Hoppip, Skiploom and Jumpluff that live there. Luffin and Cobi were born around the same time, and she served as his friend and companion for these many years, evolving as he grew. The day he set out for New Bark Town for his starter, Luffin accompanied him. Luffin is as inquisitive as her owner is, often floating ahead of him to explore things when they're on their journeys.

Lilac [Female Chikorita] — Paint me surprised.
As he made his way to New Bark Town, Cobi dreamed of getting his very own Chikorita. Grass- and Bug-type Pokémon being Cobi's passion, Chikorita was his obvious choice. He was thrilled to find this little lady waiting for him and she tackled him in glee when he picked her. He named her after her eyes, which are lilac in color. Lilac is energetic and playful, and she loves sweet food and playing games. She evolved once in his battle with Falkner and again against Bugsy.

Sammy [Female Flaffy] - Baa baa, black sheep, have you any wool?
Sammy is a spunky little Flaffy, newly evolved from a Mareep against Falkner, that Cobi named after his sister. Sammy reminds Cobi of his sister in many ways, often so much so that he laughs at it. She often gets herself into mischief with Webb, though it's nothing the little Wooper gets mad at, because they're good friends. Sammy and Webb often venture off into the unknown without a second thought.

Webb [Male Wooper] — Splish, splash, takin' a bath!
Cobi caught Webb just south of Violet City when he caught Sammy. The two are great friends and often the Flaffy and Wooper sleep together, curled against each other. Webb is a happy Wooper and often dances around in glee for no reason. He likes to blow bubbles for no reason as well, and people find it hard to attribute his happiness to any given event. Webb can be a bit dim sometimes, but it's only because he's more carefree than others.

Little One [Male Natu] — Even the smallest Pokémon can change the world.
Little One got his name when Cobi saved him from a bigger Natu that was picking on him. Cobi had gathered the hurt creature in his arms, hushing him with, "Shh, little one, you'll be okay," and rushed for Violet City and the PokéCenter. Later, Little One would join him, finding in Cobi a human friend he could trust. Little One often is called "Lil" by Cobi and he is extremely shy for a Natu.

Mica [Male Stantler] — My hooves to grind the dust.
Mica used to live south of Ecruteak City before Cobi caught him. Mica is a quiet Pokémon and is perhaps one of Cobi's better battlers that he keeps with him on a normal basis. Stern and careful, Mica takes fighting more seriously than those such as Sammy and Webb. Cobi loves him dearly and sometimes even rides on Mica's back when he lets him... which isn't often, because he's still a bit fickle about that.

Cobi is a colorful little lad. His hair is brunette and his eyes are violet, much like the city he was born in. He wears a pair of purple goggles on his head and keeps his hair tied back into a low ponytail, though his bangs are still very messy and shade his eyes like the leaves of Ilex Forest. His hair-tie is pink. He stands about five feet tall and is pretty scrawny.

Cobi wears layered shirts. His under shirt is long sleeved and red with gray cuffs on the sleeves and with gray trim on the body. His over shirt is purple and has the name and image of his favorite band, the Trodes, on the front as well as green trim on the sleeves. He wears green shorts.

He has a pair of skates, which he almost never takes off, that are different shades of blue with gray wheels. The skates are heavy duty, made by the same people that make Running Shoes, and can even function on unleveled terrain. His knee pads are green with blue bands that hold them in place.

Cobi is extremely cheerful and nothing can really get him down. He doesn't let anything get in the way of his dreams. He likes to make new friends and he absolutely loves to find new Bug- or Grass-type Pokémon. Sometimes, he gets a little too happy for his own good and people find him annoying, though.

In the rare case that he's not in a good mood, he can be pretty glum. He clams up and doesn't talk to anyone. He's prone to throw tantrums in the rare case, but Luffin will always scold him when he does. Him being upset is rare, usually it's after someone makes fun of his vision as a master Bug- and Grass-type Trainer, but even then he usually doesn't get down for long unless it's really hurtful.

Theodore is a bear of man and he loves his children with all his huge heart. He is more than happy to see them grow and explore the world, and he funds their financial needs from his own pocket sometimes, due to his profession as a businessman and entrepreneur.

Juliah loves her children just as much as her husband does, and she, too, loves to watch them sprout up from the ground. She has a bit of an obsession with gardening and she keeps a huge flower garden in the back of their house, which some of Cobi's and Sammy's Pokémon were found in.

Cobinathan, who goes by Cobi normally, grew up in Violet City, and has known the woods around it all his young life. He has always aspired to be a Trainer, but he has a great passion with Grass-type and Bug-type Pokémon, and he aims to collect them all. Sam, his older sister by seven years, was already well on her journey to be a great Trainer, though she collects blue Pokémon, oddly enough.

Sam would often visit her family during her travels and bring Cobi gifts from abroad. Cobi would be thrilled, but would more want to ask what kind of Bug and Grass Pokémon Sam had seen. Cobi would learn from Sam the myths of Celebi and Shaymin, and he would make it his journey's goal to see them.

Cobi grew up with Luffin, his Jumpluff, all his life, and the two have grown into great friends. On the day of his sixteenth birthday, Luffin would decide to come with him to New Bark (and later, on his journey across the regions) as a traveling companion. In New Bark, at Elm's Laboratory, Cobi would be thrilled to accept Lilac, his brand new Chikorita.

The trio would venture off from New Bark, combing the wilds for Pokémon, until Cobi would return to Violet once more and finally face his first Gym. It ended in disaster, Falkner's Pokémon hammering Cobi's into submission. Cobi, undaunted, would decide to expand his horizons just a little. He decided settling on two types would get him no where, not in the Gym Challenge, and also not in the achievement of catching all the Bug- and Grass-type Pokémon he could! It was okay to focus on one thing, he decided, but having other types would help him nevertheless.

It was with this in mind that he would go out and capture Webb and Sammy, returning to take on Falkner, this time victorious and earning his first Gym Badge! Sammy would also evolve from Mareep to Flaffy, much to Cobi's awe and excitement. With his first Badge in hand, Cobi set out once more, this time for Azalea Town. There, he took on Bugsy and while they managed to come out of the battle in a tie, Bugsy still awarded him the badge. He now resides in Azalea Town for a breather until he's ready to depart into Ilex Forest.

The forest spread out before him like a welcoming mat. He took in a big breath of fresh air and ran forward, skates clicking in time as he rushed over the dirt road towards New Bark Town. They had spent the night in Cherrygrove City, him, Luffin and his father. And today... today was the day he would get his own starter! Not that he didn't love Luffin, but he always had wanted a Chikorita. Always, always!

Unable to contain himself as they entered the small town, he rushed to the laboratory. His father's laugh rumbled behind him. Theodore was a large man and Cobi was so small he could still ride on his father's broad shoulders. They entered the laboratory in due time, finding that Elm was awaiting them. Beside himself with grief, Cobi could see only one Poké Ball waiting for him in the pedestal where it lay, instead of the normal three.

"P-professor... is... is the Chikorita already gone...?" He would be devastated. He would love whatever he got... but he really, really wanted that Chikorita!

The Professor just laughed and shook his head, opening the Poké Ball for Cobi to see. The Chikorita emerged and tackle Cobi with glee. She was excited. She had thought she wouldn't be chosen today, that only two Trainers would show up and she would be left out of the fun! But today she had found her Trainer.

Cobi would name her Lilac and her eyes of that color would shine with glee. Together, the three of them, Luffin, Lilac and Cobi... would venture into the wilds, fulfilling his dream!
