Kshatriya [Female Tyranitar]I have taken the enemy field.
A brute of a Pokémon that was given to Marida when she first began her long tenure under Glemy's "care." Kshatriya and Marida have been through everything, as a result. The Pokémon herself is not very vocal or forward, preferring to remain stoic and silent. When she's in combat, however, is when Kshatriya truly shines, having a command of her skill set and abilities to such a point that that she might as well have been born for the task. Stone Edge is Kshatriya's specialty, and she typically uses the move in conjunction with a full body tackle, causing the rocks around her to turret into her ally at the same time.
—Received in Castelia City from Glemy Toto.

Ability: Sand Stream
Nature: Relaxed
Move Pool: Aqua Tail, Crunch, Dragon Dance, Earthquake, Fire Punch, Ice Beam, Iron Head, Stone Edge, Superpower, Thunder Punch

Kaida [Female Noeon]Don't overdo it now.
A gift for success after her first year of training, Kaida evolved into a Noeon when Marida was at her lowest point. The Pokémon constantly attempts to cheer Marida up and, as of late, has been fairly successful in this regard. A bundle of fun, Kaida is rather energetic and often times Marida has to carry her to keep the Pokémon from running off. At the end of the day, Kaida is the Pokémon that one will most often see at the girl's side, as the Noeon often refuses to stay in her Poké Ball.
—Received in Castelia City from Glemy Toto.

Ability: Adaptability
Nature: Quirky
Move Pool: Bite, Body Slam, Covet, Dig, Endeavor, Heal Bell, Helping Hand, Iron Tail, Rock Smash, Swift

Medrik [Male Aurumoth]Locked in on target!
A Pokémon that was originally Glemy's own, Medrik is not a nice creature. Having served under strict command at Glemy's hands, Medrik is now nearly entirely introverted and unresponsive to emotion or kindness. When he was given to Marida, the girl learned to utilize him to his peak. Even today, he is fearsome in combat, though Marida's connection with the tortured creature has changed to an attempt to bring the Aurumoth back around to peace of mind.
—Received in Castelia City from Glemy Toto.

Ability: Illusion
Nature: Serious
Move Pool: Blizzard, Bug Buzz, Dragon Dance, Hydro Pump, Ice Beam, Overheat, Psychic, Quiver Dance, Substitute, Tail Glow

No one can live without light. wrote:A tall woman, Marida has an apparent strength to her. Lean muscles on a thin frame lend her a speed and strength to her movements. Long training has lead to a developed build. Her hair is an auburn mess, almost copper in color, and falls down to the middle of her back. It is heavily layered, with her bangs fraying out around her face. She has stunning violet eyes framed by long lashes. A sharp jawline and stubborn chin finish off the look of someone who has seen more than her years would imply.

Clothing-wise, Marida wears tighter fitting garments. Until recently, she wore a battle suit that enhanced her capabilities when she had it on. A magenta and indigo outfit with armored joints and a helmet, it was made out of stretching Kevlar weave. Nowadays, she wears more casual tank tops and pants with large jackets over them. She typically has her hair pulled back in a loose, low ponytail.

What is right and wrong is beside the point. wrote:As a cadet under Glemy's control, Marida was obedient and loyally carried out his orders. Marida sees herself in the ideal that Glemy's trainees are to serve as weapons, masters of Pokémon combat. Initially, Marida also seemed to have a deep loathing hatred for the concept of treating Pokémon as allies rather than tools.

After running away, however, and particularly after her recovery from the long years under Glemy's care, Marida's personality begins to change, and a hitherto unseen kindness begins to become apparent. She is now dearly attached to her siblings and attends to them carefully, though definitely with a stoic attitude. To others, she is still somewhat cold. She consistently finds that she has to learn to treat others with consideration rather than cold, and this often leads to her coming off as stand-offish at first.

What is broken cannot be restored to its original state. wrote:Marida was fathered by a man named Jaeygen Cruz, a business kingpin who lived Unova's Nimbasa City. She lead a relatively happy life in hear early years. Her family was wealthy, and thus she never seemed to want for anything. Marida's mother was the doting kind and Amaria loved her daughter dearly. Even her uncle, Glemy Toto, seemed to look out for the girl... but this changed when the man began to wheedle Jaeygen into a financial venture.

Originally, Jaeygen was invested in battle simulation for Pokémon Trainers to test themselves. But when Marida was born, Jaeygen's half-brother, Glemy Toto, got the wealthy man to enter a new business venture with him. Taking it a step further, Jaeygen and Glemy furnished a Pokémon schooling program with the aim to produce elite Pokémon combat cadets. Branded the New-Type Project and with a fleet of scientists and strategists, the program's funding skyrocketed. Jaeygen founded the company in Castelia City and put Glemy at its head. All it needed was its first cadet and Marida's birth brought about a unique possibility. With full rights to his own child's well-being, Marida was entered under Glemy's care as the first subject for the New-Type regime.

Despite her age and despite Amaria Cruz's protests, Marida quickly began to excel in the programmed simulations, never finding a battle that she could not defeat. Nevertheless, the side effects of strict regime and the near inhumane isolation the child faced caused flaws in the regime to reared their head... The once bright, kind, and cheerful girl grew cold and calculating. Unable to witness her thirteen year old daughter spiral into this horror, Amaria fled Jaeygen and Glemy. Years passed, and Marida grew into a force to be reckoned with as she moved from simulations to actual Pokémon battles, where she seemed to excel even more. For six years, she dominated Pokémon combat circles and private leagues and tournaments.

Eventually, Glemy took full control of the project as Jaeygen began to work the social circles of the world elite. The result? The expansion of the Cruz family. Marida's father finally remarried when she was was nineteen. Nordia Jyrkiäinen of Snowpoint City, the mother of Shia Jyrkiäinen and Aila Jyrkiäinen, joined the family. Nordia saw the merger as a shrewd business move, as did Jaeygen Cruz. Nordia already possessed one daughter, Shia, who was a world class Pokémon Trainer in her own right at the age of fifteen. What was more, her ten year old daughter, Aila, was still young enough for the New-Type training process to take root. Without any further hesitation, a second generation of New-Type began their schooling and Aila was on route to becoming just as ruthless in Pokémon strategy as Marida...

Aila was quickly shut away from her blood sister and was introduced to Marida. The newer girl proved to to excel at the training just as Marida did and improvements in the regime afforded her less of a loss of personality. Marida herself set a high bar, becoming a top contender in the Unova League, but Aila continued to work at the tests run on her. And for some years, for the three girls, this was their fate: all of them in some way driven to become the best Pokémon Trainer capable...

But after five years of trauma at the hands of Glemy Toto and her father and her stepmother, the family received word by the way of a death certificate that Amaria Cruz had passed away. Having stayed in hiding all these long years, Amaria had given birth to Jaeygen's last children, the twins Elpeo and Purutu. Raising them in secrecy in Kalos, the woman's surprise death left Jaeygen their only relative and, thus, their guardian. Something in Marida snapped that day, when the eight year old girls showed up, confused by their surroundings and suddenly thrust into the same life style she had secretly come to despise.

Abhorring the thought of a third generation of New-Type, Marida lashed out shortly after the girls were brought to Nimbasa and Purutu was chosen to be the next to join them at Castelia's facility. Organizing an exodus with her stepsister, Shia, Marida's chilling rage and Aila's keen battle tactics were directed at the scientists and teachers surrounding them. Though unintentional, Jeagen suffered a heart attack as Marida and her Pokémon rampaged from Castelia to the Cruz Estate, and Nordia and Glemy only barely escaped with their lives. Marida and Shia then together spirited away the rest of their family, the five sisters together disappearing into the night.

Presently, the girls live in the outskirts of Lumiose City, Kalos. Though their shared trauma of harsh parents and relatives has left them all shocked and scarred, they have made a fresh start for themselves in the same cottage Amaria owned in Kalos.

New-Type: A stimulant and implant-induced ability that allows her synapses to process ideal battle methodologies faster than the rest. Though this ability is now weaker now that the implant aiding it has been removed, Marida is still keenly aware of battle methodology and skills.

I was created only for battle. That is why I am living. And that is how I will die. wrote:"Breakfast is ready!" Shia called, a pink, frilled apron around her waist and a pan in her hand. She flipped the last pancake up and out, into a perfect, but precarious stack of breakfast food. There was a proverbial feast on the table, pancakes and fixings for five. The blunette girl smiled across the table at her elder sister and Marida smiled back every so faintly. Then came the cacophony of voices...

"Out of my way!"

"Hey, that's mine!"

"Ugh, do you always have to yell?"

Marida grinned at the scene before her. Aila frowned over exaggeratedly as the twins fought over place settings, including hers. The white-haired girl finally strong armed Elpeo out of her preferred chair and settled down. Aila turned her attention to the food and her eyes took on that keen glint of excitement as her stomach gave a heart rumble. Elpeo and Purutu finally chose chairs, the latter giving a glower of disdain at the more rambunctious Elpeo. The eldest sister tapped her gently on the shoulder, reminding her to behave, and curbing away that mean streak that Purutu was sometimes known for.

At long last, silence fell over the table, and they all turned to look to Marida for permission. The eldest rose a playful eyebrow at the assembled siblings and then smiled. "Well, don't let me keep you," she supplied simply.

And with that, breakfast began.
