Pokédex Entry: Interestingly, despite their bulky appearance and odd sensitivity to time and its passage, Chronectus move extremely quickly; sometimes so much so that it is thought they teleport short distances instead of walking at all.

Chronectus is an odd beast, a spider with an hourglass merged with its body. Compacted more like a tick than a normal spider, it is clearly an arachnid despite the form. Like most spiders, it is capable of moving along most surfaces, walking up walls or hanging upside down, and much like other spiders, it is capable of creating webs. Chronectus is able to move quite silently despite its odd shape and bulk; in some cases, the prey of Chronectus never even hears it coming as it seems to step between spaces with every motion. Biologically it has been compared in many ways to Unown, and even seems to share its ability to blend in with its surroundings to be almost unseen, unless it wants to be. Chronectus is smooth all over its body and its carapace has a hardness similar to armor; unlike most spiders who have hairs or other aids to sense motion and tremors, the time spider is more akin to machine despite being entirely organic. This is further observed as it can go into cryptobiosis if the need arises, for upwards of a thousand years. It uses an unknown method, seeming to go into a stasis that would otherwise require some kind of mechanical assistance. Despite the fact it seems to carry an hourglass in its body, it has no artificial parts; even the hourglass is entirely organic, made of a transparent carapace akin to crystal, with a type of 'balancer' in the form of the sand within, which regulates and disperses energy. The hourglass is, ironically the hardest part of the time spider's body. Oddly, despite its overall hardness, it has little attack power.

Etymology: Chronectus is a combination of the words chrono, Latin for time, and nectus, Latin for kill. This is a reference to the commonly used phrase "killing time".
Gender Differences: None.
Special Abilities: Chronectus always knows what time it is and how much time has passed regardless of what time zone it goes to. It seems to operate on a 'universal time' rather than how humans perceive it. This being the case, Chronectus has a literal internal clock that allows it to adapt to any time it moves about in without skipping a beat. Additionally, it can move and live freely in different dimensions and is highly adaptable. Because of its minor ability to warp time/space, it can exist even in extremely hostile environments where many living things could not, such as in space, by slowing its metabolic processes to a crawl and adapting to the hostile nature. Interestingly, despite their bulky appearance and odd sensitivity to time and its passage, Chronectus move extremely quickly; sometimes so much so that it is thought they teleport short distances instead of walking at all. With such mastery of living, it naturally has control over its own aura and life energy.
Behavior: Chronectus tend to gather in small groups or family units. While some seem to prefer living a solitary existence, the majority of them create social units and seem to have something similar to a hivemind. Chronectus' ability to perceive the future and understand the ripples in the interstices of time allow it to keep itself and its unit safe. This is often why Chronectus is so rare; by seeing a few moments into the future simultaneously with seeing the present, it is able to stay away from otherwise dangerous situations. Working together, a small family unit of Chronectus often shares its visions amongst one another, so that nothing will be missed. when it feels threatened, Chronectus generally prefers to alter the environment around it, or immobilize its enemy and flee, or use other optical illusions or distractions to extract itself from trouble. The sand within Chronectus' body trickles down at an extremely slow rate. It takes one hundred years for the sand to go from one end to another. Wild Chronectus sleep for a century, hanging upside down in their caves. Typically, one among the unit hibernates in the reverse order, so it can watch over its broodmates. This is taken in turns. Chronectus are friendly to humans that mean it no harm or ill, and they have a clear and present intelligence.
Habitat: Chronectus can live anywhere other than in extreme heat. They are capable of existing in deep cold, in any woodlands, atop mountains, underwater, in between the dimensions, and even the vacuum of space. Their preferred home however, is generally dark caves deep in the earth that are cool and contain a water source. When in a web, individually their webs are compact and more like hanging funnels or hammocks rather than webs made to entrap.
Diet: Chronectus feeds off of smaller insects, but can exist on just about anything liquid, such as nectar or water. As it can slow its metabolism a great deal, it does not need to eat often, but can be fed at any time as it will store nutrients.
