Pokédex Entry: Small and chubby, Schluwurz spend most of their time alternating between eating and sleeping in their burrows. It is said that a warren of Schluwurz can overrun a garden within a fortnight.

Schluwurz are small mole-like creatures that are brown in color. Their undersides are green as well as the spotted pattern on their back. Rather rotund, Schluwurz are fat with stubby little legs and no neck. Perhaps the most noteworthy thing about these plain looking Pokémon is the leafy sprouts on their back. Small blades of grass, these sprouts are used as camouflage when Schluwurz are burrowing, allowing the sprouts to stick up out of the ground as if they were true foliage. Shiny Schluwurz are black-brown with tan foliage.

Etymology: Schluwurz is a combination of the words schlu, German for consume, and wurz, German for food.
Gender Differences: None.
Special Abilities: Capable of remaining underground for extended periods of time.
Behavior: Shy creatures, Schluwurz spent most of their time burrowed under the topsoil hiding from predators. They slowly move through the ground, leaving small troughs in their wake, given that they don't burrow very deeply. As their primary food source is roots, they rarely need to be above ground. They are prone to begin stepped on, though, by both other Pokémon and passing trainers, which causes them to pop out of the ground and attack in fear.
Habitat: Foothills and plains in Europe and Kanto.
Diet: Roots and tubers.
