Pokédex Entry: Pyrefly are often believed to be lit by the spirits of those who have passed away. In the night, when they light up the meadows and valleys, people see the glowing soft light as the ghosts of their loved ones.

A small creature, Pyrefly are a black humanoid Pokémon. Their rotund little bodies sport spritely arms and short, stubby legs that look like they'd never be able to allow Pyrefly to walk far. In truth, Pyrefly almost never touch the ground, fluttering their small, round and clear wings at very high speeds. Their bottoms sport a tapered glowing abdomen that shines with a soft white-yellow light. On their stomachs is a swirling design in yellow, the same color as their curved antennae. Shiny Pyrefly are very dark purple with light blue abdomens.

Etymology: Pyrefly is a combination of the words pyre and firefly.

Gender Differences: None.

Special Abilities: Flight and emitting a soft glow.

Behavior: Friendly and kind, most Pyrefly are known for being very amiable towards humans. They are known for spending most of their time tending graveyards, and, legend has it, they guide the wandering spirits of the recently departed to the afterlife. As such, Pyrefly tend to get along quite well with Ghost-type Pokémon, despite their Light-typing. Given they are also a Fairy-type, they are known for constructing fairy rings around where fallen Pokémon lay down for a final rest. Despite being very closely associated with death, Pyrefly are not seen as a bad omen, but rather a good one, given they generally are known to signify a spirit passing on in good will.

Habitat: Favoring forests and lake sides, Pyrefly are most often spotted in glades or meadows or on shorelines within a few miles of a graveyard.

Diet: Pollen, berries and most vegetation suffice.
