Mr. Mime [Male]: Mickey's starter, he was given to him by his father at the age of 10. Mr. Mime and Mickey grew close immediately. Mr. Mime is a rather energetic Pokémon, always moving and talking. In battle, Mr. Mime is primarily defensive, waiting for the perfect moment to strike from behind a wall of barriers erected to protect himself. This makes him very difficult to defeat.
Mismagius [Female]: Mismagius is a lot like Haunter, in that she likes to pull pranks. However, this carries over into her battling, which makes her an extreme pain to deal with for an opponent. She weaves and dodges her way around her opponents. She is the best in Mickey's team at misleading trainers through the maze.
Slowking [Male]: Slowking is one of Mickey's main battlers. He is a patient battler (though not necessarily by choice), and waits for his opponent to make its move before attacking, usually countering his opponent's moves. Outside of battle, however, he is actually rather impatient, always trying to rush as much as he can.
Solrock: Solrock is a happy-go-lucky Pokémon and doesn't really care about anything. Whenever another Pokémon tries to insult it, it just laughs and says "that's funny." It's somewhat serious about battles, however, though it doesn't even take those completely seriously, aside from the ones that get it really excited. It is always Lunatone's partner whenever Mickey decides to do a double battle with a challenger.
Lunatone: Lunatone seems to be the polar opposite of Solrock, in terms of personality. It is serious in everything it does, never taking any task too lightly, and attacking it with a diligence few others can show. It is always paired with Solrock whenever Mickey decides to do a Pokémon battle against a challenger.
Ambipom [Male]: Ambipom was the second Pokémon Mickey ever caught, Ambipom helped him do his shows when he was in the carnival. This has turned Ambipom into a very showy Pokémon. This showiness, though, belies his skill at battling. When he isn't in battle, Ambipom is a very big goof, laughing and joking in a very flamboyant way.

Haunter [Male]: Haunter is the prankster of Mickey's Pokémon. This tricky nature, however, does not interfere with his battling at all. Whenever Haunter is sent out in battle, he is completely serious, almost like a completely different Pokémon. This nature makes him perfect for Mickey's gym, and he slips through the mirror maze challenger's have to negotiate in order to find Mickey, confusing them and turning them around.
Duskull [Female]: Duskull is the nicest Pokémon on Mickey's team. Duskull doesn't like battling that much, and never puts her whole heart into it. She does, however, enjoy participating in distracting challengers while they're in the mirror maze, and is better at it than Haunter or Mismagius. Outside of battle, she is very kind, often hugging challengers who've won or lost. Mickey usually uses her against newer trainers who've just started their Pokémon journey.
Shedinja [Female]: Mickey doesn't usually send Shedinja into battle. Shedinja usually helps turn challengers around in the maze, although on occasion she will be sent into battle. However, she gets more enjoyment in misleading them through the maze, rather than battling. She is usually only used when Mickey either wants to annoy his opponent into making mistakes, or when he is backed in a corner and his opponent's moves wont hurt him.
Spiritomb: Spiritomb is the only ghost Pokémon Mickey has that doesn't move throughout the maze to mislead and frighten challengers. It is, however, one of his stronger battlers. It's extremely calm in any situation and thinks things through some before acting. Outside of battle, he is quite the loner, usually not socializing with any other of Mickey's Pokémon. Mismagius, however, has taken a liking to Spiritomb
Froslass [Female]: Froslass is Mickey's most flamboyant Pokémon, a real show-boater. She especially likes to show off in front of a crowd. She does, however, take battles seriously, despite her dancing and twirling around in the middle of them, no matter who the other trainer is.
Meditite [Male]: Meditite is Mickey "Dark-type killer," being half Fighting-type and half Psychic-type. He is an extremely serious Pokémon, and somewhat obsessive about things being done right. He has been known to get upset in the middle of battles when something goes wrong, although this doesn't happen very often.
Vesper [Male Ponyta]: Vesper was another Pokémon Mickey had when he was in the carnival. Finding this alternately colored Ponyta was a stroke of luck for him, as it had wandered into the carnival grounds late one night, lost and confused. Mickey befriended the Ponyta, and she allowed him to capture her. She is the only Pokémon he has nicknamed, since she is the only Pokémon he has that is "shiny." Vesper is not much of a battler, but more of a show-boater. Therefore, he mostly uses her to entertain during his shows in the lobby of his gym. However, every now and then, he will use her in a battler against newer trainers, just so she can get in on the fun as well.
Mickey is a strange character, with his bright red hair, sticking from his head in short spikes in every direction. His outfit is just as bizarre. It consists of a sort of jumpsuit like outfit, one side half white with black polka dots, the other black with white polka dots. He wears long, black and white clown shoes on his feet.
His eyes are likely the most striking thing about him. They are a piercing, fierce blue, and shows that although he has a strange and silly appearance, he has a strong and serious personality, especially when needed.
Mickey is an eccentric character. He always has to touch the four corners of a doorway whenever he walks through it, for "good luck" reasons, and has various other quirks. One such quirk is that he NEVER handles a Poké Ball with his right hand. He always handles them with his left. Nobody, even he, knows why he does this, but it is something he's done his whole life, and has tried to change to no avail.
He is a serious battler, which is how he attained his status as a Gym Leader in the Orre League. He is also a very talented carnie and clown, although that life has been behind him for many years now (somewhat). He still likes to practice some of his old carnie tricks in the lobby of his gym, which draws as many spectators to his gym as challengers.
Mickey lived a rather normal childhood: going to school, getting his first Pokémon at 10 (albeit he didn't get it from Professor Krane). That was where it ended, though. He didn't go out on a journey with Mr. Mime, like most kids did at 10. He ended up traveling around with a carnival shortly after receiving his first Psychic-type.
He journeyed with them, taking on the role of clown, learning how to make balloon animals and the like, do minor magic tricks and such. He learned everything a good clown needs to know. All the while he traveled with this carnival troop, he also honed his battle skills, capturing what wild Pokémon he managed to find. He became very skilled at battling, picking up on it naturally. He almost never lost a match, and soon his battles became an attraction for the carnival.
Years passed, and Mickey soon began to grow tired of living his life as a carnie. He enjoyed the things he did, but it had gotten boring doing that day after day for the past 10 years. It was about this time that he learned his parents, the former keepers of Gateon's Lighthouse, were killed in a car accident, and he left the carnival to go home and take care of their funeral.
It was during this time he was approached by a representative of the still-forming Orre League. The man had had an offer for Mickey to be a Gym Leader in the new league. Mickey had taken a few days to think about it, and finally decided to take the offer, since he had grown bored with being a carnie and clown. Even despite the boredom he'd suffered as a carnie, it had still influenced his gym's set-up, as he'd turned it into one large house of mirrors.
Now, 5 years later, Mickey has his gym located inside the Gateon Port Lighthouse (which was renovated heavily for his purposes), and is very satisfied with his job as a Gym Leader, and the league is satisfied with the job he does as well. He enjoys everything about the job, and so far hasn't tired of it. Any time things get boring, he just goes down to the lobby and puts on a show for the people that always pack the place. They enjoy it, and so does he.
Mickey grinned, watching the challenger in the maze on the screen. There were cameras all over the maze, which allowed him to monitor his challengers' progression through the maze. This challenger was actually progressing rather well. She moved through the maze slowly and determinedly, his ghosts not even phasing her, although Duskull had managed to make her jump by suddenly floating through the mirror in front of her and passing straight through her head.
He continued watching as she progressed, his legs crossed, one large clown shoe in the air over his knee. He had a grin plastered on his face. He looked forward to battling this one. She would prove a challenge, since nothing seemed to rattle her. He turned and looked at Mr. Mime over his shoulder. His starter had been watching her progress with him, and Mike could tell the Psychic-type was thinking.
"She's going to be fun to battle," he said, looking over at the monitors again and noting she was almost to the last staircase,"A lot of fun. Shall we go out to greet her?"
Mr. Mime grinned and nodded as Mickey stood, slapping his hands on his legs, his outrageous hair spikes bouncing slightly with the movement.
"Let's go," he said, walking out of the door to his observation room and onto the battle arena, a wide flat area. He stood there, watching the door from the maze below, waiting for his newest challenger to come through. Eventually, she did, taking a deep breath and squinting into the sun as its bright light forced her eyes to correct very quickly from the rather dark setting she had just been in.
"You made it!" Mickey said with a grin plastered on his face once again,"That's good. You made great progress!"
Mickey watched as Shedinja, Duskull, and all his other ghosts floated out of the door past the girl to stand next to him. He returned them all to their Balls and looked to his challenger again.
"Now, are you ready for your battle? You've certainly earned it," he said.
"Always!" his young challenger said, running to the trainer's box and pulling out a Poké Ball, "Let's show this clown what we can do Monstro!"
The girl threw a Poké Ball and out came a monstrously huge Wailord. He could tell why she named him Monstro. It was a fitting nickname. He just grinned, though. This wasn't anything he hadn't dealt with before.
"Shedinja, I'm going to use you this time," he said, grinning and looking to the Bug- and Ghost-type. She moved into the arena and took up her fighting stance. The judge at the side of the arena checked to make sure both trainers were ready, and in no time at all, the battle was under way.
