Pokédex Entry: Evolving from Squirlemn that leave behind their trees, Eekquat are the defenders of the forest floor, attacking any that would come near nests of their younger kin. They punch trees to harden their knuckles.

A foot taller than Squirlemn, Eekquat is a large, humanoid squirrel. Its limbs are fairly longer than Squirlemn's, giving it advanced fighting ability. Instead of one tail, now it has two, both tipped in bright citrus orange. All the yellow markings Squirlemn possessed are now the same orange: the stripes on its head, its cheeks and the marking on its belly. It has evolved tough, leafy armor plating over its shoulders and chest and forearms. Eekquat's paws also have the appearance of wrappings around them, though they are a natural part of the Pokémon and not secondary items or implements. As ever, Eekquat possesses two large buck tooth teeth, perfect for stripping a fruit of its skin in ten seconds flat.

Etymology: Eekquat is a combination of the words eek and kumquat.
Gender Differences: None.
Special Abilities: Their claws have an acidic sting to them, provided to them by the citric acid that drips over them as they eat. They are adept fighters, punching and kickboxing with ease. The skin on their hands is rough and tough from many nights spent punching them against the bark of trees.
Behavior: Challenging opponents in their own right, Eekquat leave behind the trees of their childhood and take to patrolling the grounds of the forests they live in. They are vicious protectors of the wooded lands and trees that Chilime and Squirlemn inhabit, chasing poachers and sometimes even Trainers away from their nests. Eekquat fight and claim mates by proving who is the strongest. Similar to Australian wildlife, they kickbox one another into submission. They make amazingly loyal Pokémon when captured and many trainers who specialize in fighting types prize them.
Habitat: Exclusively the tropics and exclusively in forests where citrus plants thrive. They are common sights in rainforests and small islands of the equator all across the world.
Diet: Frugivorous, dining explicitly on fruit and seeds of fruits. They favor citrus, especially limes and lemons, but will venture to any fruit available that they can find. Eekquat will also add general vegetation to its diet to spur the growth of muscle and bones, such as fungi and buds and some insects.

Berry Forest, Sevii Archipelago ■ Jade Reaches, Orange Archipelago
